Flying High and Swimming Deep–Weeks 2 & 3 of Summer 2012

It’s been a busy two weeks around our house.  We did VBS the week of the 4th through the 8th–the SKY theme was lots of fun, but we were all very tired.  This past week Tank had swimming lessons every morning and the Roadie was out of town, which always makes productivity drop.  🙂  So, here’s kind of a mash up of the two weeks.

Cinema Sunday

Tank, like so many other boys his age, has been on a pirate kick for a while. I requested this from our local library for week 2 of summer.

My mom found a sprite plushy in my old stuff and sent it home with us the last time we saw them. This movie on Netflix was a great choice because it answered Tank’s questions about Rainbow Brite and because I hadn’t requested anything from the library for week 3.

Mailbox Monday

Tank and I worked together to come up with a list of people to “write” to.  I put them on slips of paper and put them into a container to draw out of.  The first to be pulled out were some friends from Arkanasas–he used to play guitar during contemporary worship at our church.  (*The drawing is still sitting on our table waiting to be put into an envelope and mailed.  Sorry, J & A.)

Tank drew Cinderella for her and wrestlers for him.

Treat Tuesday

This is our first batch of homemade ice cream this year–vanilla with Heath Bar pieces. Yum!!!

Water-play Wednesday

While we have spent plenty of time in the water during the last couple of weeks, it hasn’t been on Wednesdays.  Here are some of the highlights, though.

Tank got to go off the diving board on his second day of swimming lessons. He was so excited!

Create Thursday

During VBS, I spent every morning all week prepping crafts for and doing crafts with preschoolers.  I still haven’t recovered my desire to craft with my kids.  We did have a silly time while we were trying to Face Time the Roadie this past week, though.

Family Fun Friday

For the last few years, our church has done a huge event the evening of the last day of VBS.  This year was no exception.  So, our family fun was spent playing on the inflatables, splashing in puddles, and silly dancing around the parking lot.

Science Saturday

Due to poor planning on my part, and a general need to get the kids out of the house, science has not happened the last two Saturdays.  Unless you count a short discussion of physics while we were on the swings.

We’ve got more swimming lessons this coming week and will also be going to a couple of special performances at our local library.  Check back for more of Tank and Pearlie-girl’s summer adventures or follow me on Twitter!
